roady trip.

I'm a vagabond. I think thats safe to say, ya? And because of my vagabond-ness, as I would call it, I take random trips. Like this past Sunday when my friend Willy and I picked up and rolled on over to Cal for less than 72 hours to go to Six Flags and live the dream. Such an epic trip.

Six Flags - woooo weee. We got there right before they opened and I was horrified when I tried to bring my bag of pretzels into the park and the guy checking my backpack said NO!! And when I embarrassingly asked if I could eat some before he made me throw them away, he bluntly said "um no, unless you want to go outside the park to eat them" and then proceeded to chuck them into the trash. What a jerk. Once in the park, we decided to go to the greatest ride first: X2. OH MY GOSH. Best decision ever. 1. Because it was soooooo awesome. 2. as we left the ride the line was soooooo long. Pah. Suckas!!

Since I didn't take any pictures this time around...I will have to refer back to my first Six Flags trip ever for a reminder of the aftermaths of X2:

hahahah this type of reaction is a good thing...I promise!

After X2, no rides could compare. BUT they were still awesome - mainly because there were pretty much no lines. We got chocolate covered frozen bananas...OH MY GOSH. Best invention ever. Sadly we made a poor decision to go on Deja Vu. If any of you go to Six Flags, steer clear of this ride. The 3 roller coasters we went on after Deja Vu were horrible because Deja Vu ruined us and then we ended up bailing on Six Flags by 4:00. HA. But still, very successful day. Unfortunately, I didn't take a single picture as Six Flags. I know, soooo not like me.

I took about 12 pictures the whole trip...I'll use a couple of them to explain the rest of the time in Cali...

We rode our bikes around Balboa Beach and took the sketchy little ferry to Balboa Island!

Our sweet cruisers - guess which ones mine?!

This is the epitome of "beach cruising".

I can't get enough of California. And bike riding. And Willy made me fall in love with Latino music this trip. I mean we all know my desire to be Latina and speak Spanish, but I may or may not even be listening to some Latina music right now as I write this blog...ha

Oh how I love road trips...and i am anxiously awaiting my next vacation - only 17 more days! :)

una vieja.

I am an old lady. Well, I'm on my way to being a grandma pretty much. You want to know how I know this? Because a few days ago Kelly pulled TWO grey hairs out of my head. And yesterday evening, Cat pulled out another 5 or 6. The worst part is....there are still more that need to be pulled. Its unfortunate because I recently converted to a middle part and by doing just that, I brought my fancy patch of grey hairs out into the world! Sadly, this is the future I'm looking at...

yes, grey hairs also lead to an eventual transformation
from a sweet little lady into a creepy man with scary eyes....

a letter to los suns.

Dear Suns:

I love you so much, I really do. Richardson, you were great out there the other day. That 3-pointer...wooo weee you almost gave me a heart attack. I'm sorry you guys lost on a fluke shot. I really am - that just isn't how things are supposed to go down. But you know what, you proved you can do some work in L.A. So tonight's the night.

Steve - you are going to destroy them tonight. You always do...
Stat - you really need to step it up and be the beast that I know you can be.
Frye - I'm going to stay positive here and just tell you to drop those 3's like it ain't no thang. We both know you can, so just do it already.
Grant - oh how I love you.
Amundson - oh how I love your pony tail!! You just keep rockin it out there...
Dragic my sweet sweet Dragic - I am starting to form quite a bit of a crush on you. Thanks for being such a baller back up point guard. We need you tonight; you really gotta lead the rest of your bench to just destroy them.

And to the rest of you, just don't stop trying. Just play your absolute best and destroy them. Sometimes we can't completely stop Kobe, but we can do our best and we can definitely shut down the other losers that compose the lakers team.

You guys got this, I know it. Lets just get this win at home and then I know we can dominate in L.A.

I love you, I really really do.

Yours truly,
Sara Grace

i can ride my bike with no handle bars.

Actually, I can't really ride my bike with no handle bars but I really wish I could. Honestly, I am just a little too nervous to try. But that song has a really catchy beat/tune and I felt it was a suitable title for tonights posting. The past few days I have become obsessed with bike rides. I mean I have enjoyed several beach cruisin sessions throughout the semester, but lately it has become a more common occurrence. And no matter how hot it gets this summer, I think they will continue to be a common occurrence. (...hopefully) Earlier this week we went on a bike ride from my house to AZ Mills...then decided to journey through the heart of Guadalupe, (when I told my dad this the next day he simply exclaimed "DO YOU HAVE A DEATH WISH?!!" haha I assure you, in broad daylight...it is safe) then back to Tempe to grab some lunch by mi casa, and then home. Then yesterday we made a journey in another direction towards Deseret Book and Chandler Mall. Sure, it felt a little odd riding through the valet area by the food court to park my bike at the bike rack...but it was shweeeeet. And then today we went for a cruise over Tempe Town lake, and allllll over Tempe. The funniest thing is riding down Mill Ave on a Wednesday night in the summer time - because of course there are weird freaks all over the place.

Bike rides make me a happy girl. I'm glad I have discovered how wonderful this is, such a vital summer activity. :)

se habla espanol.

I have made a new summer goal. This is a goal I am extremely excited about and completely determined to accomplish. About a year ago, I left to go live in Mexico for a month to study Spanish and explore the ancient Mayan and Aztec ruins. Oh man, that was one of the best months of my life!! A lot of you already know that I have a deep love for Latinos. I often wish I was one myself, but there is no changing that. However, I will do the best I can to become Latina...and to do so, I must learn Spanish.

So, that brings me to the formal introduction of my newest summer goal: to teach myself Spanish. I figure I am tired of wasting money on college courses only to be quizzed, tested, and stressed out. I feel like I don't really get much out of them anyways since I cram the night before an exam and forget half the stuff as I walk out of the classroom. So, if I study for myself and study because I want to, I think I will have a bit more success.

I'm serious about this!!!! I know a decent amount of Spanish already, but what I need is focus and practice. This past Friday night I proved my focus to myself when I did nothing but sit in my room and write out Spanish flashcards. I then proceeded to go to the public library yesterday and I may or may not have checked out a couple of children's English-Spanish picture dictionaries. Best decision of my life.

It may be a bit loser-ish...but I'm stoked about it. Hopefully someday I will be able to pose as a Latina and find myself a fancy little Latino lover...pah. A girl can dream, right?!

And maybe someday I can wear this proudly......?

excitement.

I am filled with excitement right now. Excitement because I don't have to write another paper for a few months. And I don't have any more final exams to take. Excitement because Cat got her braces off! And excitement because many of my friends are graduating - notably Catlin, Tiffani, Craig Breinholt (yay for Kristin because she finally gets her husband all to herself!), and TroyBoy!! Congrats you guys! :)

I am also filled with excitement because I am going to the Gila Valley Temple Open House this evening with my mom, dad and a couple lovely friends. This will probably be the only opportunity my parents have to walk through the Temple walls and see what it looks like inside. I know that this is such an important experience for them as it will make things undoubtedly easier for them when I (someday) enter into the Temple to be sealed to my man! I am grateful that my mom just so happens to be in town during the times of the open house!! The Lord's plan is so intricate, and I know that it was part of His plan for my mom to be here during this time and given this incredible opportunity.

Excitement is also what I feel for Kristin and Christina and their babies! I am soo excited for Kristin to find out if Baby B is a boy or a girl...and I am excited for Christina and AJ to wait until their baby is born to know if it is a boy or a girl! Either way, I pray every single day for you two and your beautiful babies and I can't wait to meet them!

Ladies and gents, I am just excited for all of the endless possibilities out there!! Let's get to it...

suga suga.

I'm going to get straight to the point...I gave up sugar. I just started yesterday, but its been about 48 hours. For any of you that know me well enough you know just how hard this is for me. But I am deeply determined to prove to myself that I am capable of having some self control for once in my life!!

So, this means no more brownies or late night drumsticks with my dad. Every time I eat a meal, I crave dessert merely seconds after and lately I have become an addict...a yogurtland addict. I love this place so much, and even though most of the time I convince myself yogurtland is "healthy"...it still has sugar!

This picture is going to have to satisfy my cravings for now. Except instead of raspberries and kiwis, pretend there are little yogurt chips and captain crunch on this bad boy and THATS what I'd be having.
